Bonefish Grill Closes Valencia Town Center Location Suddenly

Bonefish Grill has shut the doors suddenly on Monday, according to an outgoing announcement when calling the restaurant, later confirmed by officials with Bloomin Brands, parent company for the chain.

“Closing the restaurant was a difficult decision based solely on business circumstances,” said spokesperson Elizabeth Watts in an emailed statement. “We’re proud to have been part of the Valencia community for the past three years.”

Watts added that the decision was not a reflection of the staff, and that they were all provided with a severance package, which was echoed by some former employees on Social media Monday.

The upscale casual seafood eatery opened almost exactlty 3 years ago to the date at the east end of the Patios outside the Westfield Valencia Town Center, bringing some life to what had been a largely ignored corner of the mall area.  Recently, Lyfe Kitchen which was two doors down from Bonefish closed as well.

Bonefish Grill previously had another location nearby in Northridge, which appears to have recently closed as well.  As of Monday the only listing for a Bonefish Grill location remaining in California is in Orange County.  The Valencia is only the second store to close from the Bonefish Grill line this year, nationwide, according to company filings.

No word on what might replace Bonefish or the nearby space previously occupied by Lyfe Kitchen.

No comment yet from Bonefish management or public relations.  This story is developing and we will update as information is made available.  Thanks to Foodie Tracy Kuncar for the tip!
