Late Night Fire Reported at Legendary Biker Bar Big Oaks Lodge

A late night fire was reported Saturday night deep on Bouquet Canyon at the site of Big Oaks Lodge.  Per LA County Fire Dispatch, the caller reporting the fire observed flames and smoke.  The first firefighting crews on scene confirmed the structure was fully involved upon arrival with a small spot of brush in the rear of the building.

Within minutes the surrounding brush fire was contained, however the fire in the restaurant and bar area remained ongoing.  Photos from the scene show much of the building completely destroyed. Firefighters apparently battled the flames until approximately 1:15am, per Austin Dave of The Signal.

Big Oaks Loge has been subject to a number of relatively recent changes.  Longtime owner Diana “DeeDee” White sold to an owner in Burbank in 2011 who then in turn listed the restaurant for sale themselves in March of last year, according to a report from Curbed.  According to the Alcoholic Beverage Commission, a new owner’s application to assume the liquor license (and presumably the property) is still pending, having been initiated in December of last year.

No word as to the cause of the fire yet.  This story is developing and more will be added as details are made available.
