Santa Clarita’s second farmers’ market returns after a short time away and heads up the road to Valencia Town Center. The Thursday night farmers’ market, which was formerly held in Old Town Newhall, will now take up residence on Town Center Drive, outside the mall entrance. (If you happened to get to the skating rink at the mall this past winter, you were in the right spot, outside of Pottery Barn.) The market runs from 4:00pm to 8:00pm every Thursday night, starting February 5th.

The market will feature produce vendors from Los Angeles, Ventura, Santa Barbara and Kern counties. According to Sarah at Costal Pacific, LLC, organizers of the market, a wide variety of vegetables will be offered, as well as citrus fruit, berries, watermelons, apples and grapes, among other seasonal offerings. In addition, honey, nuts, eggs and other fresh local items will be sold by vendors at the market. Several certified organic vendors are expected to participate.

Dinner time offerings will be available from vendors serving prepared food including tamales, carnitas tacos, empanadas and of course, no farmers’ market is complete without kettle corn

Local baker Alison Needham will be among the vendors there opening night selling treats from her Ginger and Fox Bake Shop. As a cottage food operation, Ginger and Fox was looking for a local venue to be able to sell the various gluten-free items she bakes. “We’ll have a wide variety of items” said Needham. “Donuts, pies, muffins, cupcakes, they’ll all be there.”

Needham will also offer pre-orders via her website, GingerAndFoxBakeShop.com to be ready for pickup at the market. “We will probably sell out of a lot of items” Needham offered. “Pre-ordering is the way to guarantee you can get the items you want.
