The Daily Harvest Cafe & Juicery Now Open in Newhall

I’ve written about how the tide seems to be turning in Santa Clarita in terms of food and how more and more local mom and pop restaurants are truly striving to bring something new to this town in terms of quality. So when I heard that The Daily Harvest had opened up, I headed over to check it out.

When I first walked in, it was almost as if I was in Santa Monica or another trendy city. The space is absolutely gorgeous! They have taken the former Brave New World space and transformed it into a cafe with a minimalist design straight out of a magazine. It is clear they took every detail into consideration, from the light fixtures to the chairs.

Yet The Daily Harvest isn’t all looks, the reality is that it is truly a great place. They use organic and locally sourced ingredients and base their specials on what is in season. They also sell cold pressed juice which they bottle themselves in house. And best of all? It is a family owned small business. I happen to love cold pressed juice, and I’m thrilled to have a local shop making and bottling their own! They currently have 9 different varieties, but they have been selling out so if there is one flavor you are particularly interested in, you might want to place a special order.

In terms of food, the menu is broken down into different sections: breakfast, toasts + small bites, salads + bowls, sandwiches + wraps, and sweet bites. I felt that everything was reasonably price considering the quality of the ingredients. Avocado toast seems to be all the rage right now, so I couldn’t resist ordering one. I opted to add a poached egg (cage free) and it was a nice little starter.

The breakfast pizza was fantastic and I will most definitely be making this my usual. It had a baked sunny side up egg with pancetta, golden potatoes, basil, chives, and parmesan cheese on top of flat bread. At $7 this is a really great deal not only as a light breakfast but also to share.

There are currently 4 sandwiches on the menu, 2 of which are gluten free. They range from $9 – $12.75 and come with a side salad, and once again, considering the quality of the ingredients, the menu is reasonably priced. On the higher end, the marinated steak sandwich has chimichurri, red onion, and tomato on ciabatta. It was filling and flavorful and the bread was perfect.

As I mentioned above, this is a family owned business, with dad in the kitchen. He has been a chef for the past 30+ years, so being able to open this cafe with his daughter has been a dream for many years, and now it has become reality.

The sweet bites portion of the menu features baked goods that are vegan and/or gluten free, and are already becoming very popular items (they had sold out the day prior).

The lemon ricotta bread is their best seller at the moment!

There are so many unique offerings at The Daily Harvest, and I only wish I had ordered more. I will definitely be going back to try their salads and bowls in the next few days, but for now, I highly recommend it to everyone. These are fresh ingredients, in a lovely setting, and a small business bringing something really great to SCV.

They are finalizing their hours, but on weekends they are open 8-2ish (maybe later depending on the amount of customers) and during the week the will be open until 7ish. For now, they plan to close on Mondays. Make sure to follow @thedailyharvest on Instagram for more information on their daily offerings. I feel that this place is the perfect cafe for SCV and I can’t wait to hear what you all think about it.

The Daily Harvest is located at 22722 Lyons Avenue right on the corner.
