The Pie Tin Brings Sweet and Savory Treats to Santa Clarita

It all started with a banana cream pie. Or lack thereof. When Laura Jardine moved to Santa Clarita  in 2005 she was on the search for the perfect banana cream pie (her favorite). When she couldn’t find one to her liking, she took matters into her own hands. The end result? A homemade banana cream pie that everyone in her family started raving about. And with good reason. It is excellent!

Fast forward a few years later, and Laura and her husband Troy decided to open up The Pie Tin in Canyon Country. Not only do they feature the famous banana cream pie, but they have a solid selection of both sweet and savory pies on the menu. At any given time you will find 6-7 sweet pies and 2-3 savory selections in the case. If you are looking for a whole pie, then you definitely need to call ahead and order.

On the savory side they have 5″ mini pies (mac and cheese, hamburger, and chicken pot pie). The hamburger pie is just like what it sounds like…ground beef and cheese inside a flaky crust. I will definitely have to try the chicken pot pie next though. The mac and cheese was being happily enjoyed by some kids at the next table, so I suppose there really is something for everyone here.

And for those craving something other than pie, they also have freshly baked cookies in the case.

Out of everything we ordered today, the apple pie was the best thing. If you can’t get your hands on the Empire Pie from The Speakeasy Bakery, then this is a suitable alternative. We added a scoop of ice cream for good measure, and as I look at photos and write this post, I know I’m going to have to stop by tomorrow for another slice. It was very good. The apples were fresh and the crust was perfectly flaky.

The Pie Tin will have a rotating selection of pies and seasonal favorites as well. I predict this will be the go to place during the holidays, so remember to place your orders early.

Whole pies are only available on a pre order basis which makes sense considering the size of the shop and the fact that it is a locally owned mom and pop business. Other cities have places like The Pie Hole and Republic of Pie. But here in Santa Clarita, we now have The Pie Tin. The prices are comparable to similar shops.

Expect to see boxes like the one below at your next local SCV gathering because this is going to be the new go to when it comes to potlucks and parties for sure.

The shop isn’t very big and only has a handful of tables, but there is seating outside which provides a nice place to hang out and meet up with friends on evenings (they open until 8 during the week and 9 on Friday and Saturday).

They have a nice selection of drinks to pair with your pie, but you can’t go wrong with Stumptown!

The Pie Tin is located at 26555 Golden Valley Rd, Santa Clarita, CA 91350, same shopping center as Rattler’s.
