OhBella Gelato & Crepe Cafe quietly opened in Canyon Country a few months back. Offering a selection of both sweet and savory crepes, sandwiches, smoothies, coffee, sorbet, and gelato, the shop has really gained popularity lately, primarily through word of mouth.

The owners are local residents, and are no strangers to the gelato/crepe game. In fact, they owned a very successful similar business in the San Fernando Valley for many years before being edged out by mall management to make room for a Buffalo Wild Wings buildout. Being faced with an increase in rent and a new location within the mall that was less than favorable, they decided to bring the business home to Canyon Country. They live here anyway, so might as well have their business here too.

While they do have a nice selection of sandwiches and crepes, the menu board isn’t incredibly overwhelming while still having something for every taste. I tried the breakfast panini with egg, black forest ham and avocado which wasn’t bad.

My friend initially wanted a smoked salmon and capers sandwich, but when the owner suggested it in a crepe instead, she went for it and loved it.

Near the entrance of the shop, there is a clear divider where guests can see the crepes being made to order. I couldn’t leave without trying one, and it ended up being the best thing I ate that day. I ordered a plain lemon and butter crepe and a side of lemon sorbet. It was everything I could ever want in a fresh crepe. I really enjoyed it.

This is by no means a review, rather more of a first look. We look forward to going back in a few weeks and trying more items (like the gelato) and really getting a better feel for the place.

OhBella Gelato & Crepe Cafe is located at 18585 Soledad Canyon Rd in Canyon Country, in the same shopping center as Vallarta.
