Marie Callender’s Makes Way…

Marie Callender’s, the iconic chain that brought a boy’s mom’s pies to the world, is leaving their space in Santa Clarita possibly as early as the the end of the year.  Commercial real estate listing website LoopNet declares that the property where the family restaurant and legendary pie bakery sits will be “fully redeveloped in 2017 into a McDonald’s, gas station with convenience store [and] car wash” as well as space for another potential fast food restaurant up to 3500 square feet.

Resident weekend comedy club JR’s announced in an email that they had been given three weeks notice that they would have to find a new venue.  They will host their final show at the restaurant on Friday, December 23rd.

The restaurant has been on a short term lease since 2015, as eatSCV reported when rumors of their closing first popped up.  The property owner has had plans to redevelop the site from one restaurant to two restaurants and a gas station with a convenience store.

Employees reached by telephone at the restaurant couldn’t confirm the closing, telling eatSCV only they “haven’t been told” if the restaurant is closing.  Calls to Perkins Restaurants (owners of Marie Callendar’s) have not been returned.
