As I sit down to write this, while watching the latest episode of The Mindy Project, a character just mentioned he has a morning açaí bowl, adding that a health guru gave him the superfood tip so he’s feeling super healthy. Maybe he is on to something. Now, people in Santa Clarita can have a designated place to find out because Bowl of Heaven is open and serving up açaí bowls, smoothies, juice, and more.

Bowl of Heaven, is an up and coming franchise that originated in the OC back in 2010. Since then they have opened 11 locations in California, and two in other states. They specialize in açaí bowls, with a menu composed of preset combinations (although granola is found in most selections). Hailing from South America, the açaí berry has long been known to have many health benefits, so I hesitate to call this a trend. The reality is for years people have sworn by it, so I suppose it anything, it is just becoming more accessible and readily available. Plus, it is really filling.

Your bowl will essentially taste like you are eating a thick berry smoothie with a spoon. But, if you want an actual smoothie, you can just get one of those too.

And, they also have fresh juices.

I’m fully aware that there are other places in town offering açaí bowls, but what makes Bowl of Heaven different from the rest is that this is their specialty. They are located in Valencia in the Kohl’s shopping center, and offer plenty of seating inside (including readily available plugs). Today was their first day, so I’ll probably stop by again in a few weeks. It was nice to see that they are employing a lot of local high school kids though.
